Loumarin started with a desire to create singular perfect objects—things that you buy once and keep forever, that get better with time and use. It’s the anti-thesis to throwaway culture and naturally sustainable. It was built around a love for patina, for leather that gradually tans and molds to the shape of your hand, for simple, elegant materials that are naturally sustainable and lovingly made by real humans paid a living wage.

Our company is based on a belief in the aura of objects, that things have their own vibration and we seek to create high vibrational objects that bring a sense of joy from their simplicity and the love put into them. We’re an intentional company with a mission to help women around the world earn a living wage that empowers them to care for themselves and their families, because when women are empowered, everyone wins.

As the creator behind loumarin, I’ve long been a Francophile and spent many memorable holidays in France, with some of the best memories of my life exploring the small towns of the South of France, perusing farmer’s markets and taking in the simple, slow and undeniably chic life that has given rise to a sustained fascination with French culture. While France and Francophile living has long inspired me, it was until a visit to Morocco in 2019 that the idea behind loumarin began to emerge. In exploring the beautiful desert towns outside of Marakkesh, I discovered many of the artisanal basket makers that we’re creating gorgeous, handmade straw bags, reminiscent of my favorite French market totes. I was so inspired by the women creating these products, as well as the positive impact that arises from women having their own source of income, and knew I wanted to find a way to share this with a larger community, and thus loumarin was born.
